It all began with an unintended lip on the trivet Savanna Groft made as a third grade crochet project. The aerodynamically correct object came unexpectedly to life a year later when Chris Larsen picked it up and tossed it to Patrick Groft for reasons he still cant explain. The idea for the indoor disc was born with the exclamation, "This toy is so brilliant, it should have a Phd!"
Phd® became the company name. Since then, the name has taken on a life of its own. Is it the Perfectly Harmless Device or something that Prevents Home Destruction and Promotes Hand Dexterity?
Fair Trade has become Phd's focus is a huge part of what keeps them going every day. They know that each Pocket Disc™ and Fair Trade Favorite™ that leaves their warehouse helps Mayan mothers keep their kids in school longer. They've teamed up with the non-profit Mayan Families to help with infrastructure projects in Guatemala like installing water filtration systems. In a recent visit to Guatemala, they saw the impact they are making with their customer's help; from better clothes and shoes to improved overall living conditions for the over 350 weavers and their families. Lets keep the momentum and good mojo rolling!
