Kånken Art is what you get when you invite artists to express their relationship with nature using the classic Kånken backpack as their canvas.

 This special edition is made in durable G-1000® HeavyDuty S with a unique pattern and color combination by the Swedish artist and graphic designer Mander (Martin Ander). It has a zippered main compartment with an inside sleeve pocket and key clip, zippered security pocket in the back, and a zippered front pocket. Adjustable webbing hip belt and handles at the top, and inside name label. It's part of Fjällräven’s® Arctic Fox initiative, where part of sales go to environment and climate projects

In the 1950's, 14 year-old Åke Nordin from Örnsköldsvik in Northern Sweden spent more time outdoors than indoors. After many long treks in the mountains, Åke decided the backpacks at the time were unsatisfactory and took matters into his own hands by building a wooden frame. This evenly distributed weight across his back so the pack did not end up uneven, pear-shaped, and uncomfortable. It also meant he could carry more weight with ease. Åke's innovation quickly caught on and in 1960 Fjällräven® became the first to commercially make and distribute framed backpacks.

From the small town of Örnsköldsvik, Fjällräven has now expanded to every corner in the world. The fundamental ideas remain the same; provide functional, durable, and timeless equipment to make the outdoors more enjoyable for all.
