In 1898, Dana Buxton and his wife, Julia, began selling their hand-made leather gifts and novelties to tourists and bicyclists traveling on the scenic Mohawk Trail in western Massachusetts. The Buxton family named the little gift making business they ran out of their home, the "L.A.W. Novelty Company" to capitalize on the popularity of a bicycling club called the League of American Wheelmen.

With this long tradition of innovation, much has changed since 1898. With these changes, Buxton still offers functional leather products made with quality craftsmanship and sold at affordable prices - providing a secure foundation for a successful future and another century!
