Compared to its counterpart, the Ultegra XR 14000 XSD now features RigidCast spool support to stabilize spool deflection when casting heavy lures. This unique technology increases casting distance and accuracy from improved release timing and less line friction leaving the spool. Because winding power is paramount when fighting hard-charging game fish in challenging currents and breaking surf, the reel uses Infinity Drive to increase winding power under load by up to 30%. For enhanced durability and dependability in harsh surf and saltwater environments, the Ultegra XR 14000 XSD features X-Protect technology to provide high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor rotation. Adding a Cross Carbon Drag provides a wider range of drag settings than traditional drag materials, providing extreme durability without sacrificing smoothness.
