Purchasing a Firearm from KTP
- KTP is a full line stocking dealer. We can order any new firearm, currently in production. If you do not see a firearm that you want, please call our store at 1-800-USA-GUNS ext. 1 to place a Non-Stock Product Inquiry.
- For all firearm sales and transfers, the Kittery Trading Post elects not to release any firearm(s) until it obtains a “proceed” from the bureau associated with any firearms background check. Kittery Trading Post will work with individuals placed on a “NICS delay” to hold their firearm(s) for up to 30 days while the background check is active or while the customer works on obtaining an FBI assigned UPIN. After 30 days, the Kittery Trading Post will work with the customer to place the firearm on an extended hold with deposit while seeking a resolution to the NICS delay. If the customer chooses to transfer the firearms to another dealer, shipping and transfer fees will be their responsibility.
- All sales must comply with applicable federal laws, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives regulations, as well as the laws of the purchaser’s state of residence, or local municipality. Shipments will only be made to valid federal firearms license (FFL) holders. A copy of that dealer’s FFL license, with original signature and date, must be on file, before the firearm is shipped.
- It is the purchaser’s responsibility, to contact their local FFL, to insure that FFL is willing to accept the particular firearm for that purchaser, to establish what transfer fees that dealer will charge the purchaser, and to insure compliance with state, county or municipal ordinances governing the transfer or purchase of the specific firearm. It is the FFL holder’s responsibility to refuse any transfers that knowingly violate such laws/regulations, although we will make every effort not to initiate such a transaction.
- In cases where we do not have the purchaser’s preferred dealer’s FFL on file, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to contact that FFL holder, to have them send a copy of their FFL license to us. If your dealer would like a copy of our FFL ahead of time, one is available on our website HERE.
- FFL’s may be emailed to: firearms@ktp.com or faxed to: 1-207-752-9015. Please have your dealer reference your name, and the firearm information when they send the FFL. We receive upwards of 100 FFL’s per week. Without your info, it will be impossible for us to know where to ship your firearm.
- States such as California, Massachusetts and some others, regulate the transfer of handguns by the exact catalog number/manufacturer’s SKU number. The exact SKU number must be approved by the state.
- Often times there are model numbers that are approved in some configurations, but not all. (I.E. the blued version is compliant, but the stainless version is not).
- For those states that regulate firearms transfers into the state by exact SKU, please confirm with your local FFL dealer, and the KTP that this firearm is legal to transfer, before purchasing the item
- KTP is happy to place the firearm on a 7-day hold for the purchaser, to allow the purchaser time to verify compliance.
- KTP will not alter firearms, to make them compliant in a purchaser’s state of residence. Simply removing a hi-capacity magazine, will not make the firearm transferable to a state that requires low-capacity magazines.
- Sorry, we cannot transfer used handguns to Massachusetts.
- We only ship to the 50 US States. Sorry, no international shipments, or shipments to US Territories, APO, FPO, etc. If you live outside the 50 US states, we welcome you to arrange shipment to a FFL dealer in the USA that has a firearms export license, and is willing to ship firearms overseas. We will ship to that FFL holder, and they will arrange shipment internationally.
- Members of the US Military serving overseas. We thank you for your service, and would like to extend the following offer to you. We will extend our 60-day layaway program to until you arrive home from overseas. Please let us know when you expect to return from deployment, and we will extend the layaway until after you return. If your orders change, simply notify us of any changes, and we will be happy to accommodate any extensions necessary.
- We offer a 5-day return privilege, and a 30 day warranty on all used firearms purchased online. Return shipping and insurance are the responsibility of the purchaser. See below for details.
- Used guns, unless specifically sold on an “as-is” basis, are in shooting condition and are warranted for a period of 30 days to fire, feed, eject, and otherwise function as the manufacturer intended.
- In the event of a defect, we will, at our option, either repair the firearm at no charge, or issue a merchandise credit for the full amount of the purchase.
- Pre-owned firearms purchased through KTP.com may be returned within 5 business days for a full refund, less shipping costs and transfer fees. The firearm must be returned in the same condition that it was sent.
- When shipped to a third-party FFL holder, it is the responsibility of the buyer to make arrangements to examine the firearm, and comply with the return policy, while the gun is still in the possession of the FFL holder. Federal, state, or local laws prohibit transfer to the buyer within the 5-day return period (I.E. states with 7-14 day waiting periods).
