KTP Food Round Up!
KTP’s first Food Round Up took place nine years ago as a way of spreading holiday cheer and supporting those in our community who were in need of a helping hand. On Friday, November 20, 2009, the first 200 people entering Kittery Trading Post with three or more cans of food received a free KTP gift card ranging in value from $10 to $500. Over 450 people stood in line with their food donation waiting for the store to open at 9am. In less than one hour, the lobby was filled with bins and bins of food – enough to help feed 60 families for several months!
In 2014, customers braved temperatures hovering around 30°F to donate over 10,000 non-perishable food items. This event continues to grow with the passing years, from the initial 200 free KTP gift cards to the current 1,000 gift card give-away.
When asked what he thought of this annual event, Kittery Trading Post co-owner Robert Adams was quick to reply, “It’s my favorite event of the year!” Our KTP employees would heartily agree!
In keeping with tradition, this year’s Food Round Up takes place the Friday prior to Thanksgiving. We hope you can join us for this annual kick-off to the holiday season on Friday, November 16, 2018 when the first 1,000 people entering the store with three or more non-perishable food items will receive a FREE KTP gift card ranging in value from $10 to $500! (Must be 18 years or older. One gift card per person.)
All non-perishable food items collected during Kittery Trading Post’s Food Round Up will go to Footprints Food Pantry in Kittery, a local-non-profit organization staffed by volunteers serving Kittery, Kittery Point and Eliot, Maine families who do not have sufficient financial resources to meet their basic needs.
