Firearms Hunter Safety Course: Skills & Exam Day
Kittery Trading Post is hosting the Skills & Exam session of Firearms Hunter Safety, presented by Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Online portion or paper manual/workbook (mailed after registration) must be complete prior to class.

This Skills and Exam Session will include 8 hours of classroom instruction on the follow topics:
Survival/first aid
Landowner relations
Hunter ethics
Maine hunting laws
Hands-on practice of safe firearms handling
Hands-on instruction of map and compass and outdoor survival
Bring a completed Survival Kit. Families may share a kit for class purposes, but it is strongly recommended that each person have their own. The kit must include a pocketknife, fire starting kit, magnetic compass, whistle, water treatment device, a small flashlight, signaling device, a large contractor trash bag, food, cordage, first aid supplies, and a survival blanket (space blanket).
At the skills and exam session, students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, and must participate in workshop and session activities, bring a survival kit and pass a 50-question exam with a score of at least 70%.
