Incoming Firearm Transfers

For when you want someone to send us (KTP) a firearm for you:

• Please have the sending party fill out our INCOMING FIREARMS TRANSFER FORM in order for us to know exactly who the firearm is for and how to contact you if need be. It also allows us to have all of the sender’s contact information if they missed something or we need to contact them if we have any questions.
   
• We require the sender to include a legible, current license with each transfer. An FFL would send their current License copy (it must be signed, dated, and filled out completely by the FFL holder); a private individual would send a legible clear copy of their current driver’s license. Without either we cannot process your transfer and it may be returned to the sender.
   
• Please insure that you get a tracking number from the sending party (FFL/Dealer, Private Citizen) as we do not call you upon your firearm arriving and we do not track your transfer for you. Incoming transfers MUST require an Adult Signature.
   
• Please allow up to 48hrs after delivery for us to process your transfer into our inventory (we do not process transfers on the weekends).
   
• Please know what the exact manufacturer, model and caliber of the firearm you have transferred are. It makes it easier for us to look it up in our system (unfortunately we cannot look up transfers by name, phone number, order number, or email).
   
• Though we are a class 3 dealer for Maine and New Hampshire, we strictly DO NOT accept incoming transfers any class 3 firearm or device.
   
• Transfers do cost money!  Please see rates listed below.
   
• If for any reason you are unable to take possession of the firearm(s) transferred in, you will still be charged the applicable transfer fee and any shipping costs associated with the return of the firearm(s) in question. You will be notified of the total bill due once the actual shipping charge is determined and prior to the firearm being sent back.  Shipping cost, insurances and selected carrier will be the sole discretion of Kittery Trading Post and aimed at supporting the best interest and integrity of its firearms records.
   
• For all firearm sales and transfers, the Kittery Trading Post elects not to release any firearm(s) until it obtains a “proceed” from the bureau associated with any firearms background check. Kittery Trading Post will work with individuals placed on a “NICS delay” to hold their firearm(s) for up to 30 days while the background check is active or while the customer works on obtaining an FBI assigned UPIN. After 30 days, the Kittery Trading Post will work with the customer to place the firearm on an extended hold with deposit while seeking a resolution to the NICS delay. If the customer chooses to transfer the firearms to another dealer, shipping and transfer fees will be their responsibility.
