Beginning in 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa, American Bob Lange, a materials engineer, felt he could improve on leather ski boots by introducing synthetic materials. The first plastic boot was born. And one year later, Bob introduced the first plastic boot with buckles. Because Bob felt so strongly that fit around the ankle is the key to increased control, Lange constantly seeks to combine athletic movement with a close, accurate fit.
