Wood worker in France for the last 25+ years, Bruno Chaperon was trained at the famous French Arts Décoratifs and Beaux-arts de Paris. Mr. Chaperon has developed and patented the intricate sinusoidal marquetry design you see on the knife. Each handle is unique and made in Opinel's® woodshop by hand using a variety of wood: Brazil, Cocobolo, Rosewood, Zebrano, Amaranh, Cordia, Kingwood and Santos Palisander Woods. The stainless steel blade is polished for an elegant result.

The Opinel® knife is named after the Opinel family from the Savoie region in the heart of the French Alps. In 1890, Joseph Opinel invented a small folding knife that would eventually become a must-have item of French savoir-vivre (elegant living). It's now considered a design icon throughout the world.
