CMS Manufacturing, Rolla Roaster's™ company, was started in 1979. The company, and Bob Holzer, were in the business of rebuilding hydraulic jacks.
In 1980, Bob invented the Rolla Roaster while enjoying marshmallows roasted in his fire pit. The Rolla Roaster was such a hit with friends, they encouraged him to sell them. Bob started selling the Rolla Roaster in local stores and then started calling mail order companies. The Rolla Roaster appeared in many stores and catalogs, and he also sold 5,000 during a Kraft® Marshmallow promotion. Sales of the Rolla Roaster rose steadily - going from 10,000 in 1990 to 20,000 in 1996. By now, Bob was making Rolla Roasters more efficiently and was able to market to larger companies as well.
