The IBS® Intelligent Brake System in the Echelon® low-profile baitcast reel has a metal brake pad that adjusts atomically to the speed of the spool. When the spool is spinning quickly during a cast, centrifugal forces cause the brake pad to rotate toward the magnets located in the left side cover. The result is higher braking power to help control spool speed and prevent backlash.
