Penn Spinfisher V Saltwater Spinning Reel

Penn Spinfisher V Saltwater Spinning Reel

Meet the fifth generation of the Spinfisher® - the Spinfisher V. This version of the Spinfisher includes several significant upgrades, making this the most advanced addition to your arsenal.

A truly sealed drag system with a total of three HT-100 washers are greased for smoothness and  longevity. Extreme range, endless adjustment, and a large diameter drag knob so you can easily crank down to max drag

Line capacity rings eliminate the question of how much line you have left when fighting a fish. The three lines on the spool flange let you know when you have 1/3, 2/3, or a full spool of line. Also if you respool often these lines find you a benchmark for backing your superlines with monofilament which will help eliminate wasted time and line.

Some Spinfisher V models include Live Liner® Drag. The Live Liner drag was built for fishing live bait. Simply pull the switch back and the front drag disengages and runs off the Live Liner drag. The Live Liner drag is a much lighter drag that lets your live bait swim free. When you get bit, simply start cranking the handle and the Live Liner drag disengages, the front drag engages, and you're tight on your fish.

  • Full metal body and sideplate keep precise gear alignment under heavy loads
  • Rubber gasket keeps superline from slipping - No backing needed
  • New thicker heavy duty aluminum bail wire adds strength and durability
  • Five shielded stainless steel bearing system
  • Friction trip ramp prevents premature bail trip when casting
  • Stainless steel main shaft and alloy main gear
  • Enhanced gear ratios on smaller sizes

In 1922, Otto Henze left Germany at age 25 and emigrated to the United States, starting Penn Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Company® in Philadelphia soon thereafter. In 1932, he designed the Mod F and the Mod K reels and began selling them to the general public in 1933.

The company's growth in the early thirties was dramatic, especially considering that America was at the height of the depression. Tough times proved to be an advantage for the start-up company, since many people fished for their food. Penn's affordable reels were just what men needed to put food on the table, day after day. In 1936, Penn introduced its most famous reel to this day, the "Senator."

Throughout the early years, Penn reels were used by such well-known and prestigious fisherman as Zane Gray and Ernest Hemingway and have been used in years since to set numerous world records.

The company's commitment to quality products designed for the world's most favorite pastime is evident in today's product range, encompassing salt and freshwater rods and reels, line, and fishing accessories.
