Surf to Summit

Surf to Summit
It all started with a chiropractor visit back in 1994. After a trip to Hawaii and a few days kayaking the coast, the doctor said, "Have you been sitting in a strange position or exercising with the wrong posture?" Yup. This was back when kayakers sat on a block of foam - if they were lucky. No one thought about kayaking "ergonomics" or "optimum paddling position." We kept saying, "There has to be a better way."

So we designed and developed the first properly supportive kayak seats, and consequently pioneered the evolution of optimum paddling position. We were the first company to perfect the thermo compression molding process (now the universal method of kayak seat construction) and we've consistently been the industry leader in new product development, cutting edge technology, and benchmark quality ever since. Others may follow in our wake, but we'll always lead the way.

Whether you're a sit-on-top or closed-cockpit kayaker, we have the kayak seat to fit your needs. Whatever your interests - touring, whitewater, surfing, kayak fishing, or recreational paddling - we offer a full range of kayak seats and accessories engineered for optimum comfort and performance.

Not too long ago, there was no such thing as fishing pole holders built into kayak seats. So we integrated the two, and now the sport of kayak fishing has taken off. From fishing rod leashes to insulated fish bags (to keep your catch of the day fresh!), we offer an ever-expanding variety of kayak fishing accessories.

We live, paddle, and design all of our kayaking gear in Santa Barbara, California. A majority of our manufacturing takes place in our local facility as well. In recent years, increased demand has motivated us to expand our production facilities overseas. If there's ever a problem or question, please call us directly. You'll speak to a live person who knows our products and has probably paddled your boat. Keep the wind to your back, and enjoy paddling with Surf to Summit®.
